UEN Newsletter For April 3rd-7th

Daily Resource / April 11th, 2023

One of the fundamental issues facing educators is a two-fold problem. One is the amount of attention we are able to give each day to the larger educator community. Whether it is a new program in your school, a strategy from your local or state board, or a blog post from a national figure, finding attention to give each day come be complex and difficult. The other half of the issue is the amount of material that is produced for educators on a daily basis. As a teacher, I followed thousands of people on social media and subscribed to dozens of blogs from edtech companies and edu-influencers. I wanted to be on top of what is new and engaging in education, but it is a lot.

With the two-fold problem of attention and quality of material to pay attention to, I have taken a deep interest in my current position of being a conduit for new information and materials for educators. Curation has become one of my favorite modes in my current job. So with that in mind, I am excited to share that Utah Education Network’s Professional Development Team is now sharing a weekly newsletter. The newsletter will come out each week on Thursday mornings. It will have all our most recent media productions (videos, podcasts, webinars), highlights from our free courses at UEN, local and national professional development opportunities, and a resource spotlight. This week explore videos from PDTV, Utah’s Online Library, a great new course for school counselors, and more.

With this new newsletter, my hope to help cut down on the amount of time it takes to find good information and professional development in Utah while also helping other organizations in Utah grow and foster better ties with the educator community. Check it out to the right or feel free to subscribe to the right.
